Stablecoin Exit Cost Calculator: Fees and Break-even

Published 19 October 2026. Use this worksheet to compare acquisition outlay, sale proceeds and the price needed to cover the modelled costs.

A practical worksheet · no wallet required

What would actually reach your account?

Compare a hypothetical stablecoin purchase and exit in US dollars. Change the assumed sale price and fees to see the full cost—not just the one-dollar target.

Illustrative inputs, not live quotes. The calculator code does not fetch prices, connect a wallet, place trades or transmit the numbers you enter. It is an arithmetic exercise, not an estimate of product safety, tax or suitability.

Your assumptions

Assumes the same units are available for sale; no token-denominated fees.
Enter costs not already included in the entry price.
A price you choose, not a fetched market quote. Do not add the spread again if it is already in this price.
The model applies this fee in USD to the gross sale amount.
For example, separately charged withdrawal or network costs. Avoid counting a cost twice.

These four prices are fixed teaching scenarios, not predictions, quotations or probabilities. All other inputs stay the same.

The calculation

Acquisition outlay = units × entry price + acquisition costs.

Net exit proceeds = units × sale price × (1 − sale-fee rate) − other exit costs.

Break-even sale price = (acquisition outlay + other exit costs) ÷ [units × (1 − sale-fee rate)].

Calculations keep full available precision. Displayed dollar totals are rounded to cents, so displayed components may differ by one cent when summed.

What this cannot tell you

The model excludes taxes, foreign exchange, yield, changing token units, fee tiers, interest on funding, withdrawal eligibility, timing, default and contract risk. It does not model direct issuer redemption or claim that a quoted price is executable.

A positive result does not mean a product is safe. Check who would pay you, whether you can use the exit route, and the actual price and charges before making a decision.

Check the default example by hand

The defaults assume 1,000 tokens acquired at $1 with $2 additional cost, then sold at $0.998 with a 0.1% sale fee and $5 other exit costs. Acquisition outlay is $1,002. Gross proceeds are $998; the sale fee is $0.998; net proceeds are $992.002. The difference is −$9.998, displayed as −$10.00.

No particular stablecoin, provider or available transaction is represented by these numbers.
